EON and Audi Hungary are planning a 160,000 sqm solar park in a new cooperationAudi Hungary and the energy group EON are working together to plan a 160,000-square-meter solar park on the roof of Audi's premises in the Hungarian city of Győr. It would be the largest solar system ever installed on a roof in Europe. With an electricity production of more than 9.5 gigawatt hours per year, the system offers the prospect of supplying up to 5,000 households with electricity. Audi's sustainability offensive with the support of the energy company EONThe two companies can look back on 25 years of collaboration, so trust in the new joint project is high. Audi aims to achieve CO² neutrality in all branches by 2030. EON, as an energy company with a particular focus on power grid supply and renewable energies, fits very well into the concept for Audi. EON board member Karsten Wildberger also emphasizes this: “Intelligent energy management is essential for companies that want to achieve their sustainability goals. We support customers like Audi in combining climate protection and economic efficiency – thereby creating value for their customers and our society.” The potential for saving CO² would be enormous if the project were successfully implemented. More than 6,000 CO² would be saved per year by using the 160,000 m² solar system. EON: An energy company with an increasing focus on sustainabilityIn recent years, EON has set itself the goal of further expanding its renewable energy division. While the company makes around 75 percent of its operating profit as a power grid supplier in the short to medium term, the field of renewable energy is to be expanded in the future. A large portion of profits from the power grid supply should flow into renewable energy to expand the business area in the long term. The stock market is paying increased attention to the company in the transformation phase. So far, the restructuring and realignment of the energy company has been largely positive. Because a (admittedly comparatively small) dividend is planned again for 2019 and the prospects of a price increase are considered relatively good, many shareholders are currently betting on EON shares. |
